Can You Really Ski 365 Days a Year?
For many skiers and snowboarders, putting away their gear at the end of winter feels inevitable. But what if you could keep riding in July—or even August?
The answer is yes… with a few caveats.
Are there really ski resorts open all year?
Yes. Several resorts around the world offer skiing for most or all of the year thanks to glaciers or unique weather conditions.
That said, the amount of terrain available changes dramatically with the seasons.
In winter you’ll have access to the full resort, while in summer operations are usually limited to glacier slopes.
The best places to ski year-round
🇮🇹 Passo Stelvio, Italy
One of Europe’s classic summer skiing destinations, popular with professional race teams and national ski squads.
🇨🇱 Valle Nevado & Portillo, Chile
When Europe enjoys summer, Chile is in the middle of winter, offering excellent snow conditions from June through September.
🇳🇿 New Zealand
Resorts such as Cardrona, Coronet Peak and The Remarkables provide fantastic skiing during the Northern Hemisphere summer.
🇦🇷 Cerro Castor, Argentina
Located near Ushuaia, this is the world’s southernmost ski resort and often enjoys one of the longest Southern Hemisphere seasons.
🇨🇭 Zermatt, Switzerland
Thanks to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, skiing is possible during much of the year, although terrain varies depending on snow conditions.
🇦🇹 Hintertux, Austria
Probably Europe’s best-known glacier resort for nearly year-round skiing.
What about indoor ski slopes?
Indoor snow centres such as SnowWorld, Ski Dubai and Big Snow American Dream allow skiers and snowboarders to practice every month of the year.
While they can’t replace real mountains, they’re excellent for improving technique.
Is year-round skiing worth it?
Absolutely—if your goal is to stay on snow, improve your skills or simply enjoy skiing outside the traditional winter season.
Many passionate skiers now chase winter around the globe, alternating between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres to enjoy snow almost every month of the year.
If skiing is your passion, winter never really has to end.
